Frequently Asked Questions

The term autophagy is currently on everyone's lips - what exactly does it mean?

In the course of its millennia-old history of development, man has had to survive periods of hunger time and again. For these times of crisis the body developed an emergency system called autophagy. This is a fasting effect that starts after a food withdrawal of about 16 hours. During this time, the body changes over to "nutrition from within" and starts to recycle the waste stored in the cell. This process is so important for us humans that the Japanese cell biologist Yoshinori Ohsumi was even awarded the Nobel Prize for Medicine in 2016 for his research into autophagy mechanisms. As a welcome side effect, the body is purified in this way right down to the depths of each individual cell. Recent research has defined in particular a substance that acts as a motor for this deep cleansing: spermidine.

Is it possible to positively influence the ageing process with food supplements?

Our life span is mainly limited by the longevity and the ability of our body cells to divide. Spermidine is an organic compound that occurs in every cell of the body and is closely linked to its ability to regenerate. Since the concentration of the body's own spermidine decreases with increasing age, the ability of the cells to regenerate decreases with increasing years of life. It has been proven that the concentrated intake of spermidine can trigger a fasting effect in the body without the need to abstain from eating - "a fasting without fasting, so to speak".

Why does Vita Reyouth combine spermidine with a vitamin B complex?

The group of B vitamins supports spermidine in its tasks. The vitamin B complex includes eight water-soluble compounds that are essential for us humans. As our body can only store them in very small amounts, these vitamins have to be taken in regularly with food. They are functionally closely linked and can best unfold their effect as a complex. For Vita Reyouth, buckwheat is specially germinated in a nutrient solution of B vitamins. This increases the natural content of B vitamins in the buckwheat germ powder and thus combines the power of germination with an increase in vitamin density.

What influence does the germination process have on the quality of a food supplement product?

The spermidine in Vita Reyouth comes from germinated soybeans and the vitamin B complex from germinated buckwheat. During germination there is a veritable explosion of life processes with a wealth of enzymes and vital substances. Never again does the plant reach such a density of nutrients as at the beginning of its life.

For LavaVitae, we have succeeded in optimising and standardising these biological growth and germination processes so that essential nutrients such as vitamins, minerals and trace elements can be concentrated into a high-quality, plant-based micronutrient complex. At the end of the process we have a product that supplies the body with these valuable substances in excellent bioavailability.
